20111213 Monte Bianco - Europe's Highest Peak

Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. - Romans 12:13

TUE - Today we planned to go to the highest peak in Europe (well not all the way to the highest point). We were all suited up for ski and snowball fight! We went to the Courmayeur Funivia and took the cable car up to Monte Bianco (€14 per adult and €11 per child, both ways). After a breathtaking ride, we were up in the all white plain. The ski schools were quiet with a few little learners (was told later that this was a one week break). However, the slopes looked demanding for Sonya and Ethan (even for me). So we decided to play snowball fight, roll in the snow, make snow angels, and build snowman instead. Look at our two snowmen Monte (the big one) and Bianco (the small one built by Ethan). We were all wet and cold by then. Michele's feet were frozen (she was wearing her new white leather shoes). After washing up and changed into fresh warm clothings, we had a wonderful lunch of bigolio, tagliolini, lagsane, and gnocchi at Mont Frety (the fine-dining restaurant with a frozen rooster). In the afternoon, we chilled out at our chalet eating pastries we bought and drinking hot chocolate. Look, Ethan was stoned ... while Sonya was still chilling out at the balcony reading her book!

Michele and Auntie Janet cooked again at night. No ski today, but we had a great feast of pasta soup and grilled chicken and vino rosso from Montepulciano, before playing Uno at night. It was a great day at Courmayeur, Monte Bianco.
