20111206 Galleria Degli Uffizi

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. - 1 Corinthians 13:7-8

TUE - We visited the Galleria degli Uffizi this morning. I went early to queue for the tickets (€11 per pax, Ethan was free), but was told that this was a low season and tickets were available (during peak period in summer, you will have to queue early for tickets or book online in advance).

We bought a guide book that explained each masterpiece by various artists. Here are some of our favourites ... Sandro Botticelli's Spring, Sandro Botticelli's Birth of Venus, and Raffaello's Angels, etc.
View of Ponte Vecchio from Galleria Degli Uffizzi. View of Palazzo Vecchio and Florence Duomo from the top of Galleria Degli Uffizzi. We did not go to the Galleria dell Accademia to admire the original version of Michelangelo's David since we had already seen it when we were here 18 years ago. Sonya and Ethan had seen the bigger version outside Vecchio. So we had lunch at Ristorante El Tocco di Bacco at Via Dei Leoni, and spent the rest of the time shopping in Florence, and eating gelato. We had dinner at China Town again ... one more before we depart Florence the next day.
It was great to be back in Florence again after 18 years. Perhaps we would come back again one day (18 years later???).
